Vocal Instruction

Have you always wanted to sing in church choir or sing at a gathering with your friends?  Or maybe you had a passion for music but just never had the time to act on it.  Do you need help preparing  an audition for pageants, musicals, or other performances?   I can help you develop confidence in your singing ability by expanding your vocal range and working with song interpretation.  When I was a pianist, I found it lonely, and singing in choirs was the social outlet I needed.  Voice teachers then took my solo voice to another level (David Stevens, Liz Cass, Matt Trevino, etc).  Whatever your level, I can assist you in meeting your goals.

Entertainment

For the last 10 years, I have put together themed shows that can either be accompanied by custom tracks or a pianist.  I work with the UT jazz chairman and pianist Dr. Jeff Hellmer.  We’ve done such shows as Best of Broadway, The Bock and Harnick Revue (writers of Fiddler on the Roof), Birds of a Feather, and Celebrating Frank Sinatra and Other Italian Americans.  On the more classical side, I also offer programs that pair wine and music from Italy.  They are mixed with videos and slideshows to immerse the audience into the country’s beauty and romance.  I have performed in home concerts, public venues, retirement homes, and churches. These shows always provide a mix of different styles of music with storytelling in between, making it a unique experience for you and your audience.

Speech Presentation

One of the big puzzle pieces for me in being able to sing powerfully was posture.  I’ve trained with Aston Patterning’s expert Eve Chenu for 10 years, which specializes in achieving optimal posture. Good posture sends a positive message to others.  We will also look at some vocal exercises that provide a relaxed projection in speaking. Given my 4 years of study at St. Louis Cabaret Conference with some of the best entertainers from New York City and LA, we will also look at some stage tricks that really draw in your audience.
